The Honourable Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, has highlighted significant reforms being undertaken to strengthen the education system in Fiji.

According to the Ministry of Education Fiji, the Government has been working over the past three years to address long-standing challenges in the education sector and lay a stronger foundation for future generations.

Key issues identified in the education system include:

✔ Outdated education legislation dating back to 1966
✔ A fragmented education system
✔ Weak curriculum standards and learning outcomes
✔ Neglected school infrastructure
✔ A fragmented teaching workforce
✔ Low morale among teachers

Minister Radrodro stated that rebuilding the education sector has required difficult decisions and sustained effort.

“Over the past three years, this Government has chosen the harder path — rebuilding, restructuring, and restoring integrity to Fiji’s education system. Today, I stand proudly to say: we have delivered, we have reformed, and we have laid the foundation for a stronger education system for the next generation.”

The reforms are part of broader efforts to improve the quality of education, strengthen governance within schools, and ensure students across the country receive better learning opportunities.

The Ministry continues to work with educators, communities, and stakeholders to modernize the education system and create a more resilient and effective framework for the future.
